George Washington: The Man and His River

Saturday, September 24

Cedar Knoll Restaurant | 9030 Lucia Lane | Fort Hunt, VA

12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

$119 per person

The Potomac River is one of America’s most historic waterways, flowing more than 400 miles from the Allegheny Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay and finally into the Atlantic Ocean. To George Washington, it not only served a crucial role in Mount Vernon’s operations, but was a central focus in his vision of creating a more powerful and prosperous union.

During this luncheon in the Botanical Room of the historic Cedar Knoll restaurant with its spectacular view of the Potomac and the Maryland shore beyond, the Founding Father will talk about the importance of this river to Mount Vernon, his vision of ultimately connecting the Potomac westward to the Ohio Valley, and how the location of the nation’s Capital on the banks of the Potomac was the centerpiece of his plan for regional, national, and personal prosperity.

Participants may ask General Washington about any aspect of his life and times.

The luncheon is hosted by the City of Alexandria’s George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee (GWBCC). To register, visit https://shop.alexandriava.gov/Events.aspx. Limited to 40 participants, so reserve your space now!
